October 5th, 2023, Leh: District Police, Leh successfully cracked a series of theft cases, including the theft of a service weapon, and apprehended six suspects while recovering various stolen items, including the service weapon. On September 25, 2023, at approximately 00:20 hours, the Leh Police received information from ASI Asgar Ali. He reported that, during the evening hours, he and his family had gone to a relative's house for dinner, locking their own house. Upon returning around 23:45 hours (24/09/2023), they discovered the lock had been broken, and household items were in disarray. They also found that the lock of a steel locker, where a government-issued pistol and 35 rounds were stored, had been tampered with and the pistol and ammunition stolen. Subsequently, FIR No: 165/2023 under US 457 and 380 IPC was registered at the Police Station Leh, and an investigation was initiated.

Today on 13th September 2023, Women Police Station Kargil, along with social workers from Special Cell for Women Kargil, organized a program at Kharbu and Bhimbhat Drass, Kargil district. During this program, SHO of Women Police Station Kargil provided an overview of Police station's functions at Petrol Pump Tumail Colony. She also discussed topics including domestic violence, stalking, women's legal rights, child marriage, and property rights of daughters. The event concluded with SHO Women Police Station empowering women to utilize police resources for their well-being.

The Ladakh Police recruitment drive for 266 posts of constable executives in different wings has started at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium, Bemathang Kargil under the supervision of Sh. S.S Khandare- IPS, Additional Director General Police, Ladakh. For the first time, the recruitment will be held with the assistance of digital technology for race & height measurements. All the measures have been put in place for fair recruitment and in this regard, a recruitment committee has also been framed. A total of 12,000 applications were received across Ladakh in which 7,500 applications were received from Kargil from both male and female candidates. The recruitment process will be free and fair and a surveillance team headed by Sh. Iftikhar Choudhary, Additional Superintendent of Police Kargil has been set up. Separate physical tests would be conducted for male & female candidates and all efforts are in place to select suitable candidates to strengthen people-friendly policing in the newly established Union Territory.

All Traffic Enforcement Squads have been directed to set up special nakas on highways & internal roads to check violations & issue challans. General public and commuters have been requested not to use high beams during night hours in Leh & Kargil district specially on roads where movement of vehicles remain on higher side.

Mohd Rafi Giri-JKPS, SP Ladakh Traffic Police. Sh. M. R. Giri-JKPS, started by outlining that the lecture is a part of continuous efforts being done to encourage and sensitise people especially youths to follow traffic rules during the ongoing National Road Safety Month. SP Traffic briefly outlined the Motor Vehicle Act amended in 2019 and highlighted the important acts and changes which have taken place. He urged the participants to organize awareness programmes and encourage others to make roads safer in their respective localities.

The event concluded at Khardungla Top, covering a total distance of 28 kilometres. On 28.10.2021, Sh. Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS, Superintendent of Police, District Kargil accompanied with Ch. Iftikhar Ahmed-JKPS visited Zero point to supervise the rescue operation of stranded vehicles and stayed at Zero Point till all the vehicles crossed from the point. DySP DAR, Kargil, SHO P/S Drass , IC PP Minamarg along with SDM Drass stayed across Zojila through out the night and made sure all stranded passengers and drivers are fine. After the road was declared safe to ply, traffic resumed and stranded vehicles were cleared one by one.

Information received on midnight of 18th October 2021 that one vehicle carrying 09 labourers from Bihar stranded on Shankula Top while travelling from Zanskar to Hamachal Pradesh due to some mechanical fault in the vehicle. Upon receiving this information a rescue team from Police Station Zanskar was dispatched to the said location early in morning hours of 19th October 2021 but due to long distance, extreme weather conditions and heavy snow on the road, the team failed to reach at the location.On 20th October 2021, the Rescue Team finally reached the stranded migrant labourers after trekking for nearly 06 hours uphill in the thick snow.07 labourers out of 09 were rescued by the rescue team with the help of local people from village Kargyak and remaining 02 labourers are still missing.

A total of 350 Police Personnel participated and conducted Group/Application Fire of different types of weapons in which a total of 5500 Rounds ware fired. 03 officials of this unit have been awarded with cash prize of Rupees 1000 each for their exemplary result of firing.

Ladakh Police succeeded in effective enforcement of various guidelines and restriction issued by Govt, of India and respective Magistrate/ Chairman Disaster Management Authority in combating and containment of novel coronavirus in Leh and Kargil District of U.T Ladakh.
Ladakh Police has mobilized all its manpower from various police units and deployed them on establishment of nakas, patrolling, checking, static guards at isolation, quarantine and containment places to restrict movements.
Created WhatsApp groups in each police beat with Nambardars, Sarpanches and panches.
Nominated and deployed Police Nodal Officers in Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu and Srinagar for smooth evacuation of stranded people of U.T Ladakh and redressal of their problems during the lockdown.

During routine patrolling, police party intercepted a vehicle at upshi, which was carrying huge quantity of alcohol from Manali. Upon questioning, the driver couldn’t provide justified answer for possession and transportation of large quantity of alcohol . In the continuous effort to stop pilferage of public resource, ladakh police has intercepted unloading of bitumen(coal tar) at Stone crusher at chushot and during further enquiry police party discovered challan copies of bitumen named under OC 501 GREF C/O 56 APO. Consequently FIR has been registered in PS leh and investigation was taken up.
